The Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Health Department is seeking a qualified and compassionate Family Violence Prevention Worker to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting families and children, promoting safety, and preventing family violence in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and counseling to individuals and families affected by family violence.
- Deliver case management services, including intake, assessment, and referral to appropriate supports.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records, case notes, and reports.
- Collaborate with child protection services, community agencies, and other partners.
- Facilitate support groups and one-on-one sessions.
- Develop and deliver educational workshops, prevention programs, and community activities.
- Participate in community events and training related to family violence prevention.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience in the helping field.
- Counseling diploma in social services (or related field).
- Registered with a relevant governing body if applicable
- Experience working with families and children in Indigenous communities
- Clear understanding of Indigenous culture and history
- Demonstrated ability to provide case management and maintain detailed case notes.
- Experience facilitating groups and individual sessions.
- Skilled in developing workshops and community-based activities.
- Proficient in computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, case management software).
- Ability to work evenings and some weekends.
- Must be willing to submit a pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing
- Must have a valid driver’s license
